Zvartnots International Airport is 10 km away from Yerevan. The airport was opened in 1961, but it was expected to operate flights only within former Soviet Union.

In 2012, the airport's new passenger terminal was put into operation, which fully meets the high international standards and serve around 3.5 million passengers during the year. In the new complex there are new service center for VIP passengers and official delegations. Zvartnots International Airport was named Best Airport in the CIS during the "2nd Annual Emerging Airports Conference and Exhibition" which was held in Dubai.
