Tatev

The Tatev Monastery is located on a large basalt plateu where the enemy could not reach so easily. Tatev played a significant role in the history of Armenia. The monastery was built in the 9-11 centuries. The monastery consists of three churches as well as a library, belfry, mausoleum, dinning hall, administrative and auxiliary buildings. The name of the monastery is translated as "give wings". It was the greatest University in Armenia and in the whole Caucasus. It is on a high hill where you can admire the Tatev desert. It will leave unbelievable impressions on you. You can reach it with the longest railway cabin in the world while admiring the fascinating view.
